The Member of Parliament from Kambia District, Hon. Mohamed Sheridan Kamara, has informed members in the house laws that, the distribution of resources to the three Arms of governments is unfair, considering the budget allocation to the judiciary which he said is very meager.
He said government should take the issues of the judiciary very serious as law interpreter’s work hinges on dispensing justice and such an institution most be well catered for.
He highlighted the negativity of the wage bill and called for measures to addressing issues around it.
“The wage bill is bloated as it calls for establishment of new offices and appointments”, he maintained.
Hon. Umu Pyne from Moyamba District predicated her debate on primary health care relative to budget increment from 7% to 9% and went on to speak about government’s focus on the entire health system with reference to the 1991 Constitution.
She reiterated and outlined several budgetary allocations for other health areas.
She also alluded to partners’ laudable efforts to the Ministry of Health and recalled that comparatively the increment of Primary Health Units (PHU’s) and reduction in infant and maternal mortality rate relative to rapid improvement.
She added that the 2025 budget spoke to the improvement of district hospitals including Moyamba in the south.
Hon. Jawah Sesay from Tonkolil asked if Tonkolili is not part of Sierra Leone and talked of the need to enhance development there.
He said the budget plan has captured Tonkolili district like others in the south. He said that Tonkolili had been supportive both politically and economically for the country’s growth but still its roads are as deplorable as it also has many inadequate health centers.
He commended Leone Rock Mining Company for complying with Corporate Social Responsibility to the communities they operate. For allocation to education, he appealed to the Government on improving education in the district
