Leone Stars and Queens Park Rangers defender Osman Kakay has announced his departure from the club after 19 years of service.
He made hundred (100) appearances for the club.
The Sierra Leone international has confirmed to this medium via WhatsApp chat few days ago.
Kakay, a product of the QPR academy, joined the club at the age of eight and progressed through the youth ranks.
He made his first-team debut in 2016.
“It’s time to say goodbye to my boyhood club,” Kakay wrote. “From the age of seven I’ve called QPR my home and I’m forever grateful for everything the club has done for me and my family. Coming to the academy and eventually making over 100 appearances for the club, it means so much to me, especially being a local boy growing up in South Kilburn.”
Kakay’s career at QPR included loan spells at Chesterfield, Livingston, and Partick Thistle. He established himself as a first-team regular in the 2020/21 season, thus making 28 appearances in the Championship.
Following a deep in playing time under manager Mark Warburton in the 2021/22 season, Kakay regained his place in the starting line-up until the arrival of Marti Cifuentes in October 2023.
With QPR now seemingly beig safe from relegation, Kakay’s departure paves the way for a potential summer transfer. The club has uttered their appreciation to Kakay for his dedication and service wishing him all the best for his future endeavours.
