In response to the urgent call from members of the Thunder Hill Community in Gbotima, situated in the East End of Freetown, for government aid to rehabilitate the Islamic Primary School, a remarkable collaboration between community advocacy and governmental action have yielded promising results.
At the forefront of this commendable initiative stands tall Mr. Robert Kondema Kargbo, the founder and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Heritage Group. With a deep-rooted commitment to his community and a strong sense of duty, Robert K. Kargbo utilized his position and influence, swiftly brought the concerns of the Thunder Hill Community to the attention of the government, specifically through the then Minister of Basic and Senior Secondary Education, Dr. David Moinina Sengeh, who now serves as the country’s Chief Minister.
Kargbo’s advocacy efforts proved instrumental in securing government support for the rehabilitation project.
Thanks to Robert Kargbo’s advocacy efforts, the government of Sierra Leone, in collaboration with the Ministry of Basic and Senior Secondary Education and with support from the World Bank, allocated funds for the much-needed rehabilitation of the school.
Last year, under the astute leadership of Dr. David Moinina Sengeh, the allocated funds were disbursed into the school’s account, initiating the process of renovation, which has been underway since then. This swift action demonstrates the power of transformational leadership and radical inclusion in addressing the needs of communities.
Robert Kondema Kargbo expressed deep appreciation for the government’s timely intervention in heeding the cries and concerns of the Thunder Hill Community to revitalize the Islamic Primary School. As a private businessman, Kargbo is particularly passionate about education, aligning his vision with the President’s focus on Human Capital Development.
Beyond his advocacy for education infrastructure, Kargbo has also demonstrated his commitment to the community through philanthropic endeavors. Over the years, he has provided numerous supports to disadvantage groups in the east end of Freetown and initiated micro-credit programs to bring hope to the lives of women and children in the community.
