Eighteen-years-old Alie Turay, has made another appearance before Magistrate Sahr Kekura of Pademba Road Court No.1 in Freetown on a count of malicious damage contrary to section 51 of the malicious damage Act 1861.
According to the particulars of offence Friday 19th April 2024 at EDSA sub-station at Congo Cross the western area in Freetown maliciously damaged on Air condition, split unit value three thousand five hundred Leones(3,500) property of EDSA Electricity distribution supply Authority.
When the charge was read and explained to the accused person he pleaded guilty
The prosecutor Inspector Kadie M Taylor told the Magistrate that fact as charge no available records against the accused person.
The accused person was not represented by legal counsel and he pleaded with the court to temper justice with mercy on his behalf
Magistrate Kekura told the accused person that today is his birthday and he is going to give them gift by reducing their sentenced to thirty days imprisonment Including the time he has spent in custody.
In another development, 32yrs-old Alie Sesay, who made another appearance before the principal Magistrates Kukura of the Pademba Road Court No.1 in Freetown pleaded guilty of stealing one air condition from EDSA and has been sentenced to thirty days in prison.
The accused was before the court on one count of larceny contrary to section 2 of the larceny Act 1916.
Police alleged that on Saturday 27th April 2024 at electricity distribution and supply authority (EDSA) Siaka Stevens Street in Freetown did steal one air condition valued sixteen thousand five hundred Leone (le16500) property of EDSA.
The accused was not represented by any legal Counsel and he pleaded guilty of the offences charged against him in court he pleaded for mercy and therefore the principal Magistrate Kekura sentenced the accused to thirty days imprisonment or to pay a fine of two hundred thousand new Leone le200,000 to the state and sentenced should be from the day of remand, he stated.
Inspector Mabel Tarawally was prosecuting the matter in court.
