Lamin Turay, a mason, 24, made his first appearance before Magistrate Santigie Bangura of Pademba Road on a count charge of store breaking and larceny contrary to section 26(w) of the Larceny Act 1916.
According to the particulars of offence, Lamin on Sunday, 4th May, 2025, at Maxwell Street, Wellington in Freetown, in the western area of the Republic of Sierra Leone, broke and entered into the store of Regina Ansumana and stole therein six pots each value three hundred and fifty leones (Le350) total valued of two thousand one hundred leones (Le2,100), three set labs each valued three hundred leones (Le300) total of nine hundred leones (Le900), five rubber bowls each valued twenty five leones (Le25) total of one hundred and twenty five leones (Le125) all to the total value of three thousand one hundred and twenty five leones (Le3,125) property of Regina Ansumana.
When the charge was read and explained to the accused, no plea was taken.
The state Prosecutor Sergeant 3379 Ballay T. sought for a short adjournment date because her witnesses were absent and asked for a subpoena for the formal witness.
Meanwhile, Magistrate Bangura granted application made by the prosecution for the subpoena for the formal witness and sent the accused to the male correctional facility in Freetown and matter adjourned to 27th May, 2025, for further proceedings.
