The Deputy Minister of Basic and Senior Secondary School Education (MBSSE), Mamusu Massaquoi, warns principals of schools to speed up the uploading of their pupils’ Continuous Assessment Scores (CASS).
The Minister has also warned heads of schools to refrain from uploading those that have not been approved by the ministry.
The minister made the Statement at a Press conference held on Monday 23th September 2024, at the conference room in the MBSSE New England Ville in Freetown.
The Ministry raised concerns regarding the slow progress
in uploading the Continuous Assessment Scores (CASS) for Year One (SSSI) into the WAEC
portal.
According to Minister Massaquoi these pupils are the current set of candidates for the 2025 forthcoming WASSCE.
She said School
Principals had been repeatedly reminded by the Ministry to complete this process before the
closing date of 30th September, 2024.
She maintained that the Ministry emphasizes that the submission of CASS One is essential for pupils to qualify for
the 2025 Government West African Senior Secondary Certificate Examination (WASSCE).
Principals are therefore reminded to: Upload only candidates who have been vetted and approved by (the Ministry, Generate the CASS report from the portal, and submit it to the Ministry for verification, Schools found to have uploaded unapproved candidates will face sanctions, and their records will
be forwarded to WAEC, resulting in the removal of those candidates’ CASS records.
The Permanent Secretary of the ministry, Brima M. Sowa said Principals who have not yet uploaded their students’ CASS One are required to do so before the 30th September, 2024 deadline.
He said, failure to comply will result in consequences for the schools involved.
He stated that Principals experiencing challenges with the upload process are required to promptly
report these issues to the Ministry for assistance.
