The leading champions of the country’s female top-tier league, Mogbwemo Queens football club have kicked off massive groundwork for the upcoming ladylike Premier League 2023/24 season.
A cross section of key players have returned to the camp in Mogbwemo after the three-month recess, following the club’s participation in the 2023 CAF Champions League WAFU Zonal qualifiers, hosted in August, at the SKD Complex in Monrovia, Liberia.
The management of Mogbwemo Queens FC has disclosed to A24 sports desk that they boosted the squad that won the maiden 2022/23 Sierra Leone Women’s Premier League before the club participated in the 2023 CAF Women’s Champions League WAFU Zonal qualifiers, adding that the sensational goalkeeper, Mawa Traoré who has returned to the camp after she represented Guinea in the World Cup and Olympic qualifiers is a blessing for their next campaign.
“Our determination is very high to achieve the goal of retaining the League title. The team is currently undergoing intensive training and awaiting the announcement of the date for the beginning of the new season by the Sierra Leone Football Association,” they stated.
