Reports reaching Africa24 newspaper has revealed that one Mohamed Kamara has escaped forceful initiation into Poro secret society, a decision that he has parted ways with his late father before his death.

According to report gathered by this medium, Mohamed Kamara’s father had earlier on informed him together with some senior members of the Poro secret society that Mohamed  will succeed him as the Tribal head of the Poro society.

Report furthered that Mohamed Kamara has been a strong opposition of men joining the male secret Poro society, as he is a staunch and fervent Muslim religious follower with a strong faith.

Sources revealed that after the demise of Mohamed Kamara’s father, some senior members of the Poro society walked straight to their house one morning and informed him about his father’s position in the secret bush and asked him to follow them to be initiated into the male secret society to maintain the title of his father, adding that Mohamed Kamara became furious with the discussion and told the senior elders of the secret society that he had earlier on told his father that he will never become a member of the Poro society.

Confirmed sources who narrated his ordeals to the Africa24 newspaper, stated that Mohamed was looking desperate, haggard and frightened at the time of his escape from the hands of the senior members of the poro society who had already captured him to initiate him into the Poro society forcefully.

According to these sources, Mohamed Kamara who was a successful businessman was arrested by a group of fierce Poro society men with the intent to initiate him into a secret society, a decision he has long decided to not be part of much against his wish.

Sources carried on that the during the night of his arrest, Mr. Kamara was waylaid by his captors who forcefully took him to a thick forest in the outskirts of Makeni town, northeastern Sierra Leone where he was tied and abandoned and left there to languish until morning.

According to these sources, Mohamed Kamara was to spend the night in the dark forest so that he will be visited by the deities that believe to own and control every initiation rites of the secret society. Those deities are believed to be ancestral spirits that can transform into humans to visit new initiates whenever they are abandoned in the evil forest at night to prepare them for their actual initiation rites and ceremony the next morning.

Credible sources stated that it was at this juncture that Mr. Kamara untied his hands that were tied and fastened to the branch of a big tree and escaped from the forest to seek refuge in a nearby farm-hut where he waited until dawn and headed to the next village where his cousin was residing.

Sources continued that upon arrival at his cousin’s residence, he narrated his ordeals to him and paid his transport fare to Freetown, the capital city.

Credible information reaching the Africa24 revealed that Mohamed headed to the city thinking that it will be safe for him and could not be found by these Poro society men, but as fate could have it, Mohamed Kamara was chased by these Poro secret society men in Freetown.

One of the sources explained that Mohamed Kamara has heard the information that a group of Poro society men are desperately searching for him and had hired spies to monitor his movements.

Receiving the sad information, sources said that Mr. Kamara wasted no time to flee from them and escaped from the capital city to an undisclosed location.

It is also revealed that women who had heard the news about Mohamed’s escape from the society bush informed some of the community elders that some unknown men were desperately searching for Mohamed as one among them described that the men dressed in unfamiliar native attire.

It was reported that Mohamed Kamara became very worried that his pursuers might sooner or later get hold of him and forcefully initiate him into the Poro society.

Unfortunately for Mohamed Kamara, there are highly placed personalities in places of authority ranging from the police, military, judiciary and even in the government who are strong and senior members of the Poro society and they could most likely prefer to turn blind eyes to the predicaments of Mohamed Kamara or whatever horrifying experiences he might be subjected to endure.

As we went to press, intelligent reports monitored by Africa 24 newspaper has disclosed that hired assassins have been assigned to capture Mohamed anywhere he resurfaces in Sierra Leone; as the poro society have members scattered across the country.

The central neither local authority ever indulges into the affairs of the poro society as they have exclusive authority over their members.

Escapees like Mohamed, who are unfortunately recaptured have suffered fatal consequences as their lives have always been in severe danger without any protection whatsoever from government.
