The Opposition Chief Whip in Parliament Hon. Abdul Karim Kamara has asked for an additional quota of pilgrims Saudi Arabic to perform the annual Hajj festival.
He said the number of pilgrims yearly from Sierra Leone is not commensurate to that of Nigeria and other countries and so pleaded on the newly appointed Ambassador to advocate for more pilgrims to be elisted Sierra Leone.
He made the submissions on Tuesday 23rd July, 2024 in the Chambers of Parliament.
He also encouraged the Ambassador appointed to Iran to go and market the country’s potential to Iran.
He further stated that Sierra Leone was not short of human capacity and people with qualifications and praised all the ominees as very fine citizens.
The MP underscored the diplomatic ties between Nigeria and Sierra Leone and the many potential benefits both countries would gain.
The Deputy Chief Whip 2, Hon. Neneh Lebbie from Bo District described the nominees as eminent Sierra Leoneans and thanked them for their appointments.
She recalled her relationship with Dr. Sandy from Saint Andrews Secondary School Bo and commended him for having deligently served the nation.
The MP parised the patriotism of the nominee and generosity with a positive impact on lives.
She called on the diplomats to promote bilateral relationships and bring new opportunities.
In his maiden speech, Hon. Paramount Chief Alameern Kanneh from Kenema District, thanked parliament for honouring Paramount Chiefs with the greatest respect and went on to eloquently heap praises on Dr. Sandy.
“I wouldn’t like to say much more because we all know him well,” he concluded.
In his felicitation, the Acting Speaker of Parliament Hon.Ibrahim Tawa Conteh, advised the Ambassadors to ensure that they work diligently to promote economic diplomacies between and amongst the countries.
