The wise bird should be given accolade for being the first statesman to point out the issue of potholes in the city and its environs.
When the bird got the news that sound minded members of Parliament have taken up the issue of potholes in the city, the bird jumped sky-high in happiness.
According to the report reaching the bird, Hon. Member of Parliament, of the All People’s Congress (APC), Abdul Karim Kamara has now followed the footsteps of Bra Parrot in raising concerns over the number of potholes in the city and its environs.
The Parrot has gathered that the opposition Chief Whip has deeply criticized the Sierra Leone Roads Authority (SLRA) to have failed the institution and by extension the President.
Hon. Kamara cited few of the streets in the city that are badly damaged that include, Edward Lane, Benjamin Lane and Fergusson Lane around Campbell Street area in Central part of the city.
Despite being people’s representative charged with that responsibility to talk for them for all the good reasons, the bird is however frustrated a bit, because the Parliamentarian failed to go to the east-end of the city to see some dangerous roads that will not be compared to certain extent to the ones he has already seen.
Honorable Kamara made these concerns when he was addressing Parliament during the fifty-sixth sitting, where the question of potholes in the city came up.
He added by saying that the number of potholes in the city is very frustrating, accusing the Authority of having potholes in front of their own offices and have done nothing to address it. “This is very much surprising to say the least,” the lawmaker is said to have quoted.
Hon. also stated that the issue of road maintenance has long been a very serious concern for residents in the capital.
And from all indications, it’s clear that the Authority is not able to handle the roads situation in the capital, let alone talk about the entire country. In fact, the newly constructed road at Ferry-junction with the Authority is making loud noise about still has potholes at this very moment.
As usual the bird went out to get the views especially on this all important national interest, and all those he spoke with, expressed dissatisfaction over the attitude of the entire Authority for its failure to do the needful.
The people cited the two main roads to enter the city, Fourah Bay Road and Kissy Road with their conditions being nothing to write home about.
They described the Sierra Leone Roads Authority (SLRA) as the worst in the Bio’s administration adding that, senior workers at the Authority are just square pegs in round holes.
But in spite of that the bird is very happy that other statesmen have involved themselves in the issue of potholes in the city.
The bird only hopes that other Members of Parliament will push to complement the efforts of Hon. Kamara.
