As part of the drive to boost the human capital development in Sierra Leone, the National Councils for Technical and other Academic Awards (NCTVA) on Tuesday 8th October 2024 certified the Sierra College of Business Technology and Health Care Studies (CBTHCS) otherwise refer to here as CTB College.
Handing over the certificate to the Management of the College, a representative from the NCTVA who also in charge of the Certification department in the NCTVA, Marie Samuel Kamara thanked the management for following due academic procedures legally.
He said the College is now available for everyone who wants to attend there to acquire education.
He said the certification of the college to operate legally in the country is best done to avoid or prevent it from having an illegal status, thereby rendering the institution from not perusing its courses to the public.
He maintained that the NCTVA is making sure that the CTB follows the entire requirements requested before being certified.
Kamara admonished the management of the college to making sure that they stick to what was approved by NCTVA to avoid issues with the government in future.
In receiving the certificate, the Principal of the newly approved collage, Rev. Manso T. Bangura, expressed his appreciation to NCTVA for making their dream to come true.
According to Bangura the NCTVA had approved five certificate programs including certificate on Administration, Office Management, Business Studies, WEB Design, Computer Studies and Accounting and Payroll Administration.
He also said five diploma courses had also been approved including a diploma in computer science, diploma in Business Administration and Management, Diploma in Accounting and Finance, Diploma in Child and Youth Education, Early Childhood Education, Social Work and Mental health and other addiction program respectively.
Bangura stressed that the certification ceremony is a start for the college of a long journey regarding the promotion of education and human capital development.
He pointed out that the college started the registration process since last year.
He urged Sierra Leoneans to send their children to the college, adding that the institution will accommodate students having two or three credits for certificate and three credits for the diploma courses.
“My college is equipped that students will find it easy to have quality education and have legal and authentic certificates which they could use use everywhere around the world in terms of seeking jobs opportunities,” CTB Principal Bangura said.
He informed that the college is situated at 81 Pademba Road in Freetown and has a conducive environment with comfortable learning equipment ranging as computers with qualifying graduates to lecture at the college.
Giving the overview of the Sierra College, the Vice Principal of the college, Moses Abdul Fullah, said the college started the registration processes in 2024 and because of the growing demand for education and adherence to the due process by NCTVA, they were able to achieve a feat in getting a certificate of approval within a short period of time.
He said they are thriving to have a college that prides of having higher standards while maintaining such standards in the future.
He said the aim of the management is to take the college to university level in the not too distant future.
Other dignitaries including Dr. Richard Conteh, Imams and Pastors made some salient points.
The Chief Executive Officer of Sierra College from USA appreciated the strides and thanked the NCTVA for their unflinching support to get them through the process.
