The Sierra Leone Association of Journalists (SLAJ) has been informed by the Sierra Leone Police (SLP) of a significant breakthrough in their investigation into the brutal killing of journalist Samuel Brima Mattia.
According to the SLP, the principal suspect, Joseph M. Lamin, who is the Station Manager of VOPAD Radio 96.5FM, confessed to have orchestrated the killing of Samuel Brima Mattia by hiring people who include one Morlai and others to kill his deputy, Samuel Brima Mattia, who is now the primary suspect.
Police said they had swiftly arrested the alleged hired killers and those suspects are helping with the investigation.
On this latest development, SLAJ commends the SLP for their efforts and urges them to ensure justice is served.
“We will continue to monitor the case closely and advocate for accountability,” an official statement said.
