21-year-old Ibrahim Kamara who is unemployed has made another appearance before Magistrate Santigie Bangura of Pademba Road Court No.2.
He was in court to defend himself on a count charge of office breaking and larceny which is contrary to section 26 (1) of the Larceny Act 1916.
According to the particulars of offence on Friday 5th July 2024 at number 4 Old Railway Line, Tengbeh Town, Western Area, Freetown, the suspect intended to defraud the complainant.
And so he broke and entered into the office of Defence for children’s International and stole therein physical cash of thirty eight thousand two hundred and fifty Leones(38,250) which are properties of Defence for Children’s International. The properties were in custody of Serah Staffa.
When the charge was read and explained to the accused, there was no plea taken.
Sergeant 8811 Florence M Wilson was led the prosecution witness in the matter.
The number two witness Hassanatu Mansaray identified herself as the program officer of the said office.
She recognized the complainant as her colleague whom he came to know as the accused person in this matter.
She recalled on the 5th July 2025 of something that happened involving the accused person.
She said she received a telephone call from their finance manager while she was at home who gave her information. Acting upon the information, she rushed to the office and found the complainant who was looking for something in the office.
She found her office scattered and she observed that the lock to her bathroom damaged her cupboard.
She noticed some foot marks on the wall and she checked her cupboard but could not find the sum of one thousand Leones.
Upon observing that she went and reported the matter to the police at the Congo Cross police station were she made a statement.
The witness was not cross-examined by the accused person.
Magistrate Bangura refused bail and sent the accused person to the male correctional facility in Freetown while the matter was adjourned to 21st April 2025.
