Twenty-two year old Alpha Kamara, a mastic designer, eighteen-year old Siaka Kanneh, thirty-one year old Alfred Ndapi, a mastic designer and thirty-five year old Mamajah Bah a blacksmith made their first appearance before Magistrate Augustine Brima Samura of Pademba Road Court No.8 in Freetown on three count charges to wit conspiracy contrary to law, larceny contrary to section 2 of the Larceny Act 1916 and receiving stolen goods contrary to section 33 (1) of the Larceny Act 1916.
According to the particulars of offence, on Saturday 31st May 2025 at Mambo Main Peninsular Road, Goderich in the western area of Freetown, conspired together and with other persons unknown to commit a felony to wit larceny
In count two, at on same date and place, the accused persons did steal six rolls 1.5mm twin cables, three rolls 2.5mm twin cable, two rolls 4mm twin cable and other assorted items equivalent to the total value of fifty nine thousand three hundred and fifty Leones(59,350) property of Noah Dauda Dabenie
Count three further stated that on the same date and place the fourth accused person did receive six rolls of 1.5 mm twin cables, three rolls of 2.5mm twin cables and other assorted items equivalent to the total value of fifty nine thousand three hundred and fifty Leones (59,350) property of Noah Dauda Dabenie knowing same to have been stolen.
When the charges were read and explained to the accused persons they pleaded not guilty.
The prosecutor Inspector Aminata Korio led Prosecution witness number one, Noah Dauda Dabenie an accountant working for Online Sierra Leone Limited. He recognized all the accused persons through Mohamed Kallon. He recalled on 31st May 2025 something transpired between himself and the accused person, at this juncture the prosecutor sought for a short adjournment date for her to get proper conference with her witness.
Meanwhile, Magistrate Samura refused bail based on the seriousness of the offence and sent the accused persons to the male correctional facility in Freetown and matter adjourned to the 3rd July 2025.
