Since the Sierra Leone Police is gradually moving from “Force For Good” to Police Service the institution has embarked on using modern technological equipment such as the Centre Circuit Television System (C.C.T.V) in bid to effectively speedily carry out investigations in the southern city of Bo.
Through the wisdom of the Inspector General of Police William Fayia Sellu C.C.T.V cameras have been installed in strategic locations starting from Falla check point which is the main check point entering Bo city and other areas including Box Point situated at the main popular Fenton Road in Bo.
This development has been welcomed by people of Bo. However, the fear of many is how sustainable this project will hold since Sierra Leoneans lack the culture of maintenance.
However the Assistant Inspector General of police in the Southern Region Brima Kanneh has allied the fears of the people in the south that the cameras will be maintained since the police under the abled leadership of the Inspector General of police William Fayia Sellu is moving from Force for Good to Police Service, adding that police presence is not found everywhere and that the C.C.T.V will help a lot for investigations.
He said that a solar system is going to be attached to these CCTV cameras so that even when there is no electricity, the system will not stop working. He called on the public that police everywhere practice modern community policing system the Sierra Leone Police is no exception we are working for you the people and you are plenty in number.
The IG also called on the public not hide criminals but friends with them and exposes any criminal activity to the police that will help society to develop.
