The predictions of the upcoming June 24th , 2023 presidential election are mounting high pressures between and among supporters and members of both the ruling Sierra Leone Peoples Party (SLPP) and the strong main opposition All Peoples Congress (APC) party as to what will be true outcome of the election.

Both Dr. Samura Kamara and Dr. Julius Maada Bio are optimistic of winning the forthcoming presidential election based on how all two political leaders have traded their campaign manifesto both internal and external. Dr. Julius Maada Bio has the full optimism that he will emerge as the winner because he believed that he completed his 2018 manifesto promises and even boasted of giving a bonus development to the citizen as well as Dr. Samura Kamara is in high spirit that he will clinch the golden seat of office of the president from Mr. Bio whom he believed cannot fix the economy for better livelihood of the suffering masses.

It is a strong perception and belief by members and supporters of the SLPP that their leader Dr. Julius Maada Bio will complete two terms in office like his former predecessors like as well members and supporters of the APC are of the strong conviction that the economic messes are many and it is only their candidate that can fix back the economy.

In their local tabloid, ‘We Yone’ newspaper, the APC predicted 70% win for Dr. Samura Kamara and, according to them, their candidate is going to weep North West votes and will also secure appreciable votes from the Southeast. The APC We Yone newspaper stated that based on their random survey, the vast majority of voters interviewed at districts, chiefdoms and towns have already made up their minds to vote for Dr. Samura Kamara. Their findings revealed Dr. Samura Kamara will comfortably win by a landslide victory of 70% of the presidential votes with incumbent President Bio having 20% and other candidates to share 5% of the votes.

Furthermore in another elections prediction by the Institute for Governance Reform (IGR) has predicted a range of 53%- 59% votes for President Bio ahead of June 24th Presidential election results with the APC scoring 37%- 46%. The IGR according to their SierraPoll May 2023 Forecast Survey Report on a new Electoral Map of Sierra Leone is to support planning meant for the increase of integrity of the elections to manage and change expectations.

However, all of these predictions ahead of the Presidential poll will create a room for chaos and suspicion as all two candidates have been declared as winners of the Presidential election two weeks prior to the polling day.

Dr. Samura Kamara has already predicted himself as winner and has said he will not accept any result not that is not in favour of him and as well as incumbent president Bio who has strongly said that he will not any defeating result and this utterances by the two leaders are mounting doubts among citizens what will be the consequence of the presidential polls.

In a nut shell, both Dr. Samura Kamara and Mr. Bio should bear in their minds that they have signed a peace communiqué and have committed themselves to a peaceful election and even post-election peace.

This has raised eyebrows on concerned Sierra Leoneans who are calling on the European Union Election Observation Mission (EU-EOM) to compel these two candidates to uphold their peace oaths they signed to in front of the British Common Wealth Secretary Rtd. Hon. Patricia Scotland.
