For the first time in the history of female soccer in the country, the Sierra Leone’s national women’s team has reached the finals of the 2025 WAFU A Women’s tournament, with a 1-0 victory over Mali in a tense semifinal.
“We believed in ourselves from the first day,” Kamara said after the final whistle. “This is not just a win, it’s a dream come true for all of us and Sierra Leone.”
Despite the sad challenges, they added another feather to their cap by clinching the final spot, such honor in the tournament deeply shows a commanding presence between the players and the technical team.
Meanwhile, head coach Hassan Malik Mansaray praised his players’ heart and discipline.
“Mansaray said: “The team is unique, they are working hard to achieve their goal this time around. We came here with one goal, to make history. And now we’re one step away from lifting the trophy. We are appealing to all football lovers to support the team.
