Reporting reaching Africa24 sport desk has discovered that the Sierra Leone National Under-20 Football team (Shooting Stars) has commenced preparations for the forthcoming U20 Zonal tournament, scheduled to take place in Monrovia, Liberia.
According to the media unit of the Sierra Leone Football association (SLFA), they said the team formally started training a formidable 26-man squad eager to showcase their talents on the regional tournament. Though the competition will kick-start on Saturday 17th and finishes on Sunday 25th of February, 2024, noting that the young lad have promised to perform well.
“We respect Liberian our counterparts; but Sierra Leone’s U20 team will leaving no stone unturned in their quest for victory.
Training is underway on the artificial turf pitch at the Sierra Leone Football Association academy in Kingtom. The newly installed surface provides an ideal environment for honing skills and fostering team cohesion ahead of the rigorous competition ahead,” they said.
However, the head coach, Mohamed Lamin Kamara and his backroom staff have confirmed that the boys are undergoing intensive training sessions coupled with tactical strategies, physical proficiency technical proficiency.
He emphasized that the squad is determined to make strong impression and vie for top honors at the tournament. He further maintained that the U20 Zonal tournament will not only serve as a platform for showcasing emerging talents; but also presents an opportunity for players to gain invaluable experience and catch the eyes of scouts and talent spotters, aiming to fulfilling their dreams of representing the country at national level in the future.
