The Sierra Leone national senior female team, Sierra Queens, have emerged the champions of the Women’s Day Cup following a fantastic win against Liberia U20.
They inched out a victory after scoring a 2-0 in the final match, making an impressive 9 points clear out of four games played. The Sierra Leone National U-17 team in their final match against Liberia in the Women’s Day Cup ended in a 1-1 draw, but Sierra their 8 points was enough for them to clinch the trophy.
Coinciding with International Women’s Day on March 8th, the tournament also featured the U-17 and U-20 women’s national teams of Sierra Leone. The initiative had served as a strong representation of both countries uniting with the global community to advocate for gender equality and women. This tournament provides a valuable opportunity for young female athletes to showcase their skills and gain a valuable experience while promoting gender equality in the world of football.
