Before the coming to power of the SLPP in 2018, the party in its campaign time made various sweet promises by way of assuring Sierra Leoneans about their plans for the future.
Among the many promises made were that nobody would go to bed on an empty stomach, and the bread and butter issue would be over, the Lungi Bridge would be constructed within the first five (5) years in office, shoes, books and back packs to be given freely to school going children and a lot more they vowed.
Before the advent of the “Paopa” SLPP, the Kabbah SLPP did all they could to put the country safely on track and everybody saw that then. That regime created a lot of institutions that Sierra Leoneans are now benefiting from.
Everybody at the time was ready to welcome and receive PA Kabbah and the SLPP with open arms.
But the Bio administration changes the face of the original SLPP to what is known as Paopa regime in governance, with them known for sweet words to the people.
However, the changes that were promised were never delivered instead the people continued to suffer more than before, nothing better is seen that can match up with the promises they had made during their campaign time.
In the new dispensation, called the “NEW DIRECTION” ghost teachers are still on pay rolls almost in every ministries and Departments.
In the same token, some of the good things the Kabbah SLPP and the Ernest Koroma APC left were all destroyed all in the name of polities.
Everybody knows that, the SLPP is spending monies in certain areas to gather political support and that is the usual way or techniques all African politicians are using to convince the electorates to enable them to continue to stay in power.
Notwithstanding the fact that, a lot of good work was done by both the Kabbah and Koroma regimes but nothing is seen now in terms of better development.
The people had brought in a regime change because they needed it for the better, but to their disappointment that is not the case with the present regime they have been made to see.
Sweet promises always go with action to satisfy the people.
SLPP and the sweet promises – – did those promises work or fulfilled?
