As the Sports Writers Association of Sierra Leone (SLMASL)) polls are underway, Mohamed Lamin Turay (MLT), an accomplished journalist with over 12 years of experience, has announced his candidacy for Secretary General Position at the SWASAL in the upcoming elections.

Turay holds a BA degree and is currently in his final year studying law at Fourah Bay College, University of Sierra Leone. He began his journalism career in 2012 as a sports producer with the Sierra Leone Broadcasting Corporation (SLBC) in Magburaka.

His remarkable work soon led him to a role at SLBC Freetown in 2016, where he has since served as a reporter and presenter.

With over a decade as a dedicated member of the Sport Writers Association,Turay has significantly contributed to sports journalism,thus by covering major new events across Sierra Leone.

Announcing his candidacy, Turay emphasized the importance of leadership, strategy, and unity within the association, likening it to a well-coached sports team.

His career has been marked by a deep commitment to the growth of sports journalism in Sierra Leone, covering local and national events with integrity and highlighting the achievements of athletes. As a longtime advocate, Turay has been collaborating with sports organizations to underscore the vital role journalism plays in promoting sports.

If elected, Turay intends to focus on strengthening communication within the association, thereby enhancing members’ skills through workshops, and to be a voice for the association’s recognition and opportunities.

He aims to cultivate robust relationships with sports organizations to showcase the importance of sports journalism in Sierra Leone.

ImTuray has shared his dedication to advancing the association’s mission while supporting every member’s professional journey, stating, “With your support, we can create a winning strategy that propels our association and member to a greater heights.”

He encouraged members to support his candidacy.
