As the Cricket Sierra Leone (CSL) preparations for the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup Africa Qualifier slated for August 28, 2025 in Namibia.
CSL Chairman Francis Trevor Samuara said the national women’s team is entering the final phase of its training programme with the aim of being fully prepared for the regional tournament. Unfolding the previous matches as preparatory, Samuara stressed the need for the team to be ready for tougher opposition at the qualifiers, noting that the Namibia-hosted tournament serves as a gateway to the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup 2026 in the United Kingdom, with only the top two teams earning qualification.
Regardless of their challenges, the National Olympic Committee (NOC), President Prince Sualley and Secretary-General Joseph Nyande assured CSL officials and players that efforts are underway to mobilize financial and logistical backing, including possible assistance from the Olympic Solidarity Fund.
Sualley recognized the dedication shown by the cricketers in training and encouraged them to continue working hard ahead of the qualifiers. He pledged that the NOC would explore various channels of support to ensure the team is adequately prepared to represent Sierra Leone at the international level.
