The Opposition Chief Whip in Parliament, Hon. Abdul Karim Kamara (AKK) on Thursday 29th August 2024, expressed his gratitude to the management of University of Management and Technology (UNIMTECH) for their relentless efforts in transforming education in the country.
According to Hon AKK, the management deserves boisterous round of applause nationally, that is taking into cognizance their contributions played in reforming the educational sector which has over the years is gradually going into the drain.
He played these lapses as unhidden factors to transform affecting the education system in the in the country.
He praised UNIMTECH to have scaled up to having computer training centers and to becoming an independent university accredited by Tertiary Education Commission( TEC).
In addition, he said, since the inception of the institution it has produced astute leaders of all walks of life in the country who are presently contributing to national development.
He further said that it’s imperative for Sierra Leoneans to inculcate the culture of recognizing people who are contributing largely to rebranding the nation. He said these people must be recognized especially when they are in the world as that would motivate them and others them to do more for the country.
He also stated that even though he is an Opposition Parliamentarian, he feel compelled to commending the efforts shown by those who are sacrificing their little for the advancement of the nation.
He promised that he would never oppose such people but rather would also praise them as them complement politicians. He referred to these people as “patriots of this blessed nation.”
Moreover, he emphasized that the efforts of the administration, especially the Chancellor, Professor Paul Kamara and the Pro- Chancellor Dr. Paula Kamara should also serve as a wake- up call to all patriotic citizens of this country that collective effort is the nucleus for any nation to develop.
He therefore called on staff and students to continue to uphold the standards of the institution as it’s known to be free from all sorts of educational pitfalls such as exams malpractice, sex for grades, intimidation and discrimination.
