The Deputy Leader of Government Business, Hon Bashiru Silikie has informed Members of Parliament that the government still have clearly three years to the 2028 general elections.
The MP was speaking on Tuesday 1st July, 2025during the approval of the presidential nominees in Parliament, Tower Hill in Freetown.
Addressing the nominees, Hon Slilikie said the offices fo which they are appointed are not their permanent offices, reminding them that there were people who occupied those offices before now and others will also have occupied those offices after them.
He admonished the appointees to take their offices seriously and that the successes of the incumbent government depend on their hard work.
Hon. Silikie also emphasised on the need for the appointees to always welcome Members of Parliament and their supporters.
He added that there are appointees that sit in their offices, see MPs through their CCTV cameras but keep them waiting, a development that he perceived as a deception.
Hon. Silikie told the appointees that among the 7 plus million people, they were appointed not because of their personal relationship with the president but because they are just fortunate to benefit, so they should take their work seriously when they assume their respective offices.
He informed them that Members of Parliament are not responsible for development purposes, but that the issue rests on the shoulders of presidential appointees.
In his statement, the Member of Parliament from Bo, Hon. Joesph Lamin told appointees to be friendly in their offices.
“Please don’t forget yourself in your offices,” the MP stated.
The lawmaker from Kailahun District, Hon Lolloh Tongi stated that most of the hard to reach communities are struggling to have fuel at the same price.
She urged the presidential nominee for the petrolium sector to consider those communities for fuel.
