People now talk of war to come; protests to happen. They don’t think peace in the country will forever happen. ECOMOG coming in-country could have brought calm for Sierra Leoneans but an ordinary, unlettered Sierra Leonean will quickly misunderstands any combats guys presence to mean a country heading for war.

But the educated Sierra Leoneans know pretty well that combats don’t only represent war but restoration of peace. And that is what everyone in Sierra Leone must understand now and believe in the military wing of the Economic Community of West Africa States (ECOWAS) that they will only enter a country to forestall crisis or restore lasting peace.

Already, the previous skirmishes on the eve of last year’s June elections with our country’s soldiers and police army on streets patrolling or releasing gun shots have become nostalgic experiences for many civilians in Sierra Leone.

It’s true that one may need to be in deep fear as reported cases of death had happened in protests related events such as in the August 10, 2022.

And so that is more the reason why one must not be in total and deep fear again.

Because the coming of ECOMOG rings a bell of stability in the security atmosphere of the country and peace is really good because for ‘a better nation; peace should be.”
