Thirty-six-years-old Mohamed Koroma, a driver has made another appearance before Magistrate Santigie Bangura of Pademba Road court No.2 in Freetown.
He was charged on a count of fraudulent conversion Contrary to Section 20 (i) (iv) (a) of the Larceny Act 1916.
According to the particulars of offence, on Friday 15th March 2024 at #8 Madango Town off Congo Cross in Freetown he was believed to have raudulently converted to his own use or benefit certain property one blue colour TVS keke tricycle with registration number AUV 188 valued fifty four thousand Leones(54,000) entrusted to him by Alfred Milton Margai.
He was asked to apply the same on a commercial bases and return same to the said Alfred Milton Margai.
Chief Superintendent of police Juan M.S Bull lead Prosecution witness number one Amara Bassie a driver he recognized the accused person in the dock as his boss and the complainant.
He said he worked for him and he recalled on the 15th March on the above date the accused person told him that he want a job. The witness said he approached the complainant and pleaded with him to give his tricycle to the accused person on commercial bases. The witness said he was present when they arranged and arrived at two hundred Leones everyday and on the same date the tricycle was handed over to the accused person and he started paying for five days.
On the sixth day he saw the accused person packed the vehicle at Lodge along the Kingharman Road and he asked him why he was going there.
Because of the rush hour they parted ways and the witness said he told the accused person that he was going to Tengbeh Town. He joined him on his tricycle the witness said around 2:00 pm the accused person called and informed him that the tricycle had been stolen and he went to where the tricycle was packed but it was not there. The witness said he called the accused person and he told him that he was at the said police station and he told the accused person that he was there but didn’t see him and the accused person later switched off his mobile phone.
On the following morning he went to the same police station and met the accused person and asked him for the tricycle and if he had informed the complainant about it.
He said he called the complainant to inform him about what the accused person had told the complainant as he told them to be meeting at his house and immediately they went to Congo Cross police station, they made report and statement was later obtained from him.
The witness was cross examined by H.M Gevao.
Meanwhile, Magistrate Bangura adjourned the matter to 12 June 2024.
