A popular adage says: “When you hear a child says we are going to farm on that piece of land this year, it means he must have heard it from his father.”
That adage is in complete agreement with what presently unfolding in the largest opposition party in the country, the All People’s Congress (APC) where it has been rumoured that over seventeen candidates are aspiring for its flag bearership for the much touted 2028 general elections.
Whether the rumour is correct or accurate, it remains a rumour to the wise bird until otherwise.
During his just concluded trips around the country, as usual to get firsthand information on topical issues of national concern and how to properly analyze it for public consumption, Bra Parrot got disturbing news from so many quarters about the formation of splinter groups (political camps) within the opposition APC.
Few days ago, the Wise Bird was roving around town when he got the news about persons wanting to become flag bearers of the APC party for the much heralded 2028 multi-tier elections.
The most respected bird however starts to wonder why a large number like that should aspire for a position in a single political entity.
What immediately filled the mind of the oldest and wisest animal was that such ambition will obviously destroy the chances of any political party like what the wise bird witnessed in 2018 when there was a big split within the very APC party structure which eventually led to it losing to the incumbent party.
That split made all the big guns in the party to take back seats prior to and during campaign time. And that grudge has continued to rear its ugly head in the party to date.
The names of those on the list available to the Bird allegedly aspiring for the APC leadership include: Former Anthony-General and Minister of Justice Joseph F. Kamara, Ibrahim Bangura, Lawyer Ade Macauley, Hon. Alimamy Petito Koroma, Dr. Richard Konteh, John Bonor Sesay, Lawyer Kalokoh, Mayor Yvonne Aki-Sawyer, Zainab Bangura, Dr. Sylvia O. Blyden, Mohamed M. Kamara (Jagaban), Dr. Kaifala Marrah, Alfred Peter Conteh, Alfred Palo Conteh, ex-Vice President Chief Sam Sumana, Bai Mahmoud Bangura and former Deputy Speaker of Parliament Hon. Chernor Maju Bah (Chricoco).
From all indications, it seems history wants to repeat itself, because the rate at which the APC big guns are pushing to become president with the present division in the party is un-imaginable.
The unhealthy situation has forced the bird to ask a compelling question that if the APC is actually ready to regain power come 2028?
The most respected animal is not a member of any of the political parties in the country only that, the bird loves to see where peace and unite reign at all times.
According to information, the National Delegates Conference (NDC) of the APC party has been slated for 2026, and with this in mind, the bird would have thought that this is the time for the party to come together as one unit to fight a common course in the interest of the party.
As the bird used to say that he does not have voting rights in this kingdom other than in the animal kingdom.
The bird as usual will sound the views of peoples as he does not have all the ideas as some perceived.
The bird spoke to a lot of people for them to also give their ideas on the APC issue, some admitted that the party currently sharply divided and the question of them winning the 2028 election is questionable.
Others accused the National Publicity Secretary of not saying the truth to the people, and that at one time on radio he denied that the party is divided.
However, the bird knows that, more names are going to come up for that party’s flagbearer position.
