Most families are poor in Sierra Leone and so they don’t have decent homes.
Because of the means of getting money is so hard for them, houses are built unfinished lying for years.
With no money means no work. There are lot of unfinished houses in most parts especially in the Western Area Rural District of Sierra Leone.
When one asks an owner of a particular unfinished house, neighbours would tell you that owner is not around.
Houses are started only half way without being completed.
They sometimes lie on open fields years and years without any work going on them.
It tells you how poor people are. Most don’t have reliable stream of income either on their businesses or office work. In a country that’s seriously hit by hyper-inflation, profits on businesses are too little to do a house work. Salaries of workers don’t come forth every month in a year from the government.
Speaking around this issue, a man believes “only those who have money could build good houses in Sierra Leone,” he said, adding that “people should be building new houses in extreme parts of Waterloo in the Western Area Rural District.”
Sierra Leone has vast flat lands beyond the urban capital Freetown.
But in thus part of Sierra Leone, the man said, there have not been many houses being built by people yet.
“I wonder why would people don’t build houses in those flat lands.”
