The Chief of Defence Staff (CDS) of the Republic of Sierra Leone Armed Forces, Lieutenant General Amara Idara Bangura, has delivered a strong worded message to a cross-section of officers and enlisted personnel. He has urged them to remain steadfast in their duty and to be loyal to the ideals of the military and to serve the nation above politics.
While addressing the gathering, Lt. General Bangura emphasized that the military’s primary responsibility is to protect the sovereignty, peace, and stability of Sierra Leone. It is not to be swayed by partisan politics or personal interests.
He cautioned soldiers against allowing politicians to manipulate them, stressing that their service should be guided by discipline, professionalism, and the national interest.
“Our uniform represents commitment to country, not to any political party,” the CDS stated.
“We must uphold the dignity of our institution by remaining neutral, focused, and ready to serve all Sierra Leoneans equally.”
Lt. General Bangura also encouraged the men and women of the Armed Forces to lead by example, embrace unity, and maintain the highest standards of military ethics.
He reaffirmed his commitment to building a professional, respected, and apolitical military that continues to be a pillar of national unity.
The CDS’s addmonision has been welcomed by citizens applauded him of his stance to making the RSLAF more professional and apolitical.
