It is still clear that Coach Amidu Karim is currently Sierra Leone’s head coach for the men’s national football team, Leone Stars.
Mr Karim confirmed that he had not received any formal termination letter from the Sierra Leone Football Association (SLFA) despite gossips by people of his dismissal due to his poor show in the latest Africa Cup of Nations Qualifiers for 2025 to be played in Morocco.
Coach Karim also has revealed that he and his technical team have not been paid their salaries for over three months.
While unconfirmed reports from social media of January 6, 2025, have indicated that SLFA had dismissed the entire technical staff with immediate effect due to the underperformance by the team.
Karim had maintained that no official communication had been received.
He pointed out that his contract stipulated a one-month period left before termination, but SLFA has not observed it, he said.
However, rumors have been doing the rounds that Mohamed Kallon, a former star player of Inter Milan, AS Monaco, and Al-Ittihad, will be Leone’s coach sooner. Mohamed had been captain of Sierra Leone national team, and he holds UEFA Pro License status.
He has been involved in developing the young talents through his club, FC Kallon.
However, Sierra Leone Football Association (SLFA) has yet to make a a public statement concerning the ongoing developments.
