The wise bird has been monitoring the activities of the Sierra Leone Road Safety Authority (SLRSA) and by extension its officers and officials pertaining to their work.
The wise bird has been reliably informed that the Authority will be embarking on what they refer to as ‘Operation Against Illegal Street- Garages in Freetown’.
From all indications, the bird will not even hesitate to say that, the insinuation is mixed minded people, as this is not the first time they have embarked on such an exercise and which has never yielded any positive result.
This operation is just a way of wasting tax payers’ money because it will not carry the required results expected by the people.
The Executive Director of the Sierra Leone Road Safety Authority (SLRSA), for all you know, might have very good intention in pushing the process but those working with him may sabotage the process, trust me!
The operation, according to information, is meant for the orderly free-flow of traffic within the capital Freetown, and also, it aims at eradicating illegal operation of street garages throughout Freetown.
In the same token the operation also aims to clean away all abandoned vehicles, motorbikes, Kekehs that have been parked along the streets of Freetown permanently or improperly parked along the roads.
Furthermore, according to source, SLRSA is planning to establish a regular monitoring mechanism to ensure that the operation succeeds to the letter.
The big question is: will other stakeholders fully co-operate with the Authority to weed away all illegal garages in Freetown.
The bird as usual went out to get the views of some sober-minded people and other road users; the bird was surprised from what he got from those people.
Most of the people came out clearly that, this is not the first time such an operation is being put in place.
It happened during the days of late President Ahmed Tejan Kabbah when the operation was on, but to the time of Ernest Bai Koroma the operation died a natural death.
So to hear of this one again, of late, the people have even said ‘Na fos time bra’ it will die again.
In fact the people further said that, those responsible will do what they call a selective justice by way of living other vehicles untouched that are parked in the same location with others, for instance.
The bird will keep an eye on the operations of the Operation Garages from the Streets.
