Despite the tentative suspension by the Western Area Football Association WAFA, the Central One Football Association (COFA) has confirmed that 34 communities will compete in this year’s Inter-Community Football League, with the champions set to receive a prize of NLe110,000 and the runners-up NLe 60,000.
COFA Chairman Philipson Cline-Cole said 32 teams had confirmed participation. However, after the intervention of WAFA, Bambra Town and Fourah Town were added to the squad, bringing the total to 34. Defending champions Fourah Bay Community will open the tournament against Belgium Sellers in a highly anticipated fixture.
Chairman Cline-Cole also established that the tournament would receive sponsorship from a humanitarian All People’s Congress Party APC politician, Mohamed Omodu Kamara (widely known as Jagaban), alongside Elephant Bet and the Say No to Drugs and Say No to Violence Campaigns.
