Prof. Edwin J.J Momoh, a senior clergy who has served as a Conference Secretary for 16 years has told press men that he will no longer run for the position in future elections and pinpointed the dare need for unity and cohesion in the church.
He made this statement on the 5th March 2025 at the 145th Annual United Methodist Conference held at Urban Center, Kissy.
Prof E.J.J Momoh disclose that his decision not to contest for Conference Secretary in forth coming elections, despite having the support of the people, is to pave the way for others to lead and serve in the capacity. “I’m just a phone call away to assist when called upon.” He vowed.
During his submission he made a clarion call for togetherness and unity in the church as inscribed in the Holy Bible, it is against this backdrop he posited that there is no opposition in the church and call on all aggrieved candidates of the UMC conference last year to embrace the vision of the newly elected Bishop James Boyie Caulker and compliment his efforts.
In the other hand, he called on the victors not to intimidate others but to embrace them and prioritizes inclusivity.
“I was among the contenders for the position but I lost, that does not in any way serves as deterrent for me to serve humanity and the church.” He revealed.
When asked about the uniqueness of serving in the church, he answered stating that service to humanity is priceless. When one serves with sincerity he will surely eat the fruit of one’s labour, I’m a testament of it, he added.
He concluded by saying he will renounce his position as Conference Secretary but will still remain as a senior clergy member and an active member in the church.
