Football fans at home and aboard have urged the senior men’s national team, Leone Stars to scale up their performance and to prepare rigorously for upcoming international competitions following their recent exit from the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifying campaign.
In an interview with some football pundits and supporters, they said the performance of the team was appalling particularly their narrow 2-1 victory over Djibouti last Sunday in Casablanca, Morocco.
They acknowledged the low commitments of players, despite the huge taxpayers’ money wasted on them throughout the qualifiers and emphasized that improved organization and performance are vital for success in future competitions.
They also urged government to focus on other sporting disciplines in the country given the challenges they faced to build on their recent show and achievements.
