The Acting Speaker of the House of Parliament, Hon. Sengepoh Solomon Thomas, has instructed the Clerk to bring in the Director General (DG) of the Guma Valley Water Company.
The DG according to Hon. Thomas will appear before Parliament on Tuesday 30th April, 2024 to answer questions relating to the operations of the Guma Valley.
The invitation came about after the Sierra Leone People’s Party (SLPP) Member of Parliament (MP) from Moyamba District, Hon. Mustapha Sellu, had accused Guma Valley Water Company of defrauding and depriving him including his entire community.
Hon. Mustapha Sellu made the accusation on Thursday 25th April, 2024 in the Well of Parliament.
Hon. Sellu said he opened an account with Guma Water Company and paid for water to be transported to his community.
He said since, November 2023, he paid the huge sums of money to Guma Valley Company, the agency had failed to supply water to his community.
The worst of it all, Hon. Sellu said, was when he contacted the Director General (DG) of the company the director promised to work on his regust but nothing had ever been done to the effect.
He further alleged that he had been seeing and witnessing Guma Water bowsers supplying water to his close neighbour, and he had kept on waiting for Guma to come almost a year but the compnay never showed up.
Hon. Sellu added that when he narrated his ordeal to the drivers of Guma Valley they echoed to him that the MP has to do something about it before they would heed to his demand.
The MP said the company had defrauded him because his hopes to support his community had gone.
He said if the management of Guma Valley Company could treat him with such deceptive manner, he wondered how they would be treating ordinary Sierra Leoneans out there.
Meanwhile, the management of the company will avail themselves on Tuesday in parliament for through interrogation.
