It is no secret that the Deputy Chief Whip of the ruling bench, Hon Ibrahim Tawa Conteh, has been rumoured to be Deputy Speaker by next week.

Sources close to Parliament and State House have said to satisfy regional balance Hon Ibrahim Tawa Conteh would be ordained with the Deputy Speaker’s position.

Apart from Hon Tawa Conteh coming from the Western Region, the MP is being considered as one of the fittest for the deputy as a third highest position in the land.

Hon Conteh is currently the Chairman of the Parliamentary Oversight Committee on Agriculture where he is doing extremely well.

In the 5th Parliament, Hon Tawa Conteh, had worked robustly for the re-election of President Julius Maada Bio.

In terms of debate Hon Ibrahim Tawa Conteh is among the good debaters who has stood and still stand the test of time.

Sources continued that for Hon Tawa Conteh as Deputy Speaker will prove to be proficient and would also help to make laws that will stand the test of time.

Hon Tawa Conteh is being reportedly pursuing Law at Law School and with the plethora of experiences will make a very good Speaker.

As chairman of various committees, he has served Hon Conteh he always shown uncompromising stance when it comes to accountability and transparency.

If bestowed with the Deputy Speaker’s position, Hon Ibrahim Tawa Conteh will now become the Chairman of Public Account Committee and will be of very good chairman to hold public and Civil servants accountable in delivering their activities.

Rumours have also stated that other candidates have also emerged and they are also hopeful to become Deputy Speaker considering their years of service.
