Information reaching the wise bird revealed that the Attorney General and Minister of Justice who is also the government legal adviser, Mr. Alpha Sesay Esq. has on behalf of government called for the people of Sierra Leone to make peace and national-cohesion as priority as the country is advancing into the implementation of the Agreement for national unity.

According to the report, he made this statement shortly after the government of President Bio starts to fulfill its commitment to resolution four (4) of the agreement which saw the recent release the opposition political prisoners countrywide.

Resolution four (4) according to the report focuses on fostering peace, reconciliation and inclusivity by addressing political grievances including the release of detained individuals held for political related offences.

However the report say, the Minister noted that the move should not be viewed as merely a government concession, but as a big opportunity for all Sierra Leoneans to continue to rebuild trust, confidence and to work together as one people and in the spirit of oneness and unity.

The report furthered that the national unity Agreement was signed as a roadmap to bridge the division and long-term national stability everybody is waiting for in the country.

Furthermore, the release of political prisoners by the government is a signal of government’s willingness to honor its obligation under the signed Agreement.

But as the bird is known to be objective and calls things by their correct and proper names, the question he would want to ask is, if the release of political prisoners enough to keep the process going?

Given that there are three sides to a story, your side, my side and then the trust, the bird went out to sound the views of other people on this sensitive issue.

About 75-80% of those he contacted lauded the effort of the government for the release of political prisoners, but noted that more need to be done as there are more in the Agreement to be attended to for peace and unity to prevail in the country.
