Information reaching the wise bird is that, an election some people termed as controversial Chieftaincy election in the Barri Chiefdom, Pujehun District ended peacefully on Monday 19th May 2025 with Osman Lansana Wai emerging as the winner who now is mandated to handle the affairs of the Chiefdom.

According to the information the wise bird has received, there were a total of 1,341  eligible Tribal Authorities (TAs) who cast their votes during the election.

In the first rounds of the election, none of the twelve aspirants reached the threshold of 50%.

In the runoff, Osman Lansana Wai emerged victorious with 867 valid votes cast beating his main opponent Sheku Laga who scored 36 votes according to the report the bird got.

In his victory speech, the newly elected Paramount Chief Osman Lansana Wai, first of all thanked GOD ALMIGHTY for making it possible for the election to be conducted peacefully.

He also thanked his people for voting him as their new chief, noting that it’s due to the trust and confidence they repose in him. He reaffirmed his determination and commitment to develop Bai Chiefdom.

He called on his opponents to join hands together to build the Chiefdom.

The bird as usual contacted natives of Barri Chiefdom who reside here in Freetown.

They told the enquiring animal that the people did not make any mistake in electing Mr. Osman as their new Paramount Chiefdom.
