Hon Jawah Sesay of Tonkolili District, representing Constituency 056 comprising Kalanthuba, Dansogoia, and Sambaia Chiefdoms, 15th October 2025, actively participated in the ongoing parliamentary debate on the president’s address.
In his opening remarks, Hon. Jawah expressed sincere gratitude to the opposition leadership for according him the platform to contribute to this crucial national discussion.
Referring to himself as a freedom fighter for mining communities, he cited his recent fact-finding visits to Koinadugu, Kono, Bonthe, Kenema, Moyamba, and Tonkolili Districts. He reminded Parliament of a viral video he had earlier released, which exposed the deep-rooted challenges facing these mining communities.
Hon. Jawah strongly criticized the unequal distribution of mining benefits, noting that while districts like Kailahun, Kenema, Moyamba and Bo have enjoyed government’s support, Tonkolili, despite its mining contributions, continues to be neglected.
He also addressed the Magburaka–Bendugu road project, a key infrastructure promise made by President Bio during the 2018 and 2023 campaigns, which remains unfulfilled. Hon. Jawah voiced the deep frustration of his constituents. However, he commended the Road Maintenance Fund Administration and the Tonkolili District Council for recently approving nine culverts in Buya section. Although he initially requested for twenty-two culverts, he expressed confidence that the remaining ones would be approved soon.
In conclusion, he acknowledged and appreciated his two dedicated team members who accompanied him during his district engagements, highlighting their commitment and teamwork.
The people of Tonkolili continue to stand proudly behind Hon. Jawah Sesay for his bold, people-first advocacy and strong parliamentary representation.
