The wise bird has noticed for some time now that, the Immigration Department is always at the center of controversies.

The latest information reaching the bird is the case of the country’s diplomatic passport that has been found in the hands of a foreigner which Sierra Leoneans at home and abroad have reacted strongly and angrily to it. It has reported the foreigner was arrest and detained for carrying Sierra Leone’s diplomatic passport.

According to competent report, some people have been reportedly apprehended in Dubai, United Arab Emirates in connection with drug trafficking, a development that has caused nationwide condemnation.

In view of the above, the people are demanding a full scale investigation to know how such national important documents ended up in the hands of foreign nationals.

The bird has gathered that, this is not just a lapse by the authorities at the Immigration Department, but a sell-out and betrayal of trust and confidence bestowed on the officials in that institution.

It is no secret that the image of the country is at stake because some individuals within the system are not honest to the President who appointed them.

Allowing foreigners to enter the country illegally is detrimental to the nation’s security which cannot be overemphasized.

It is a fact that, only His Excellency the President has the sole authority for any approval of a diplomatic passport in the country. Does that mean that, the President is aware of the present deal?

This is just a question or concern.

It is also understood that both the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Office of the President have been urged to launch an investigation to bring those responsible to book.

The bird as usual went out to get the views of serious minded Sierra Leoneans to comment on the issue, as the former Immigration boss was allegedly sacked for misappropriation of funds and other related issues.

All those the bird contacted, expressed disaffection over the way the Immigration Deportment has always been in contravention of the law to the extent that, negative reports are always at their doorsteps.

The people even asked whether the investigation will hold because the Office of the President has been or is part of Immigration Deportment.

“Why always Immigration?” the people asked in anticipation.
