Isata Bindi has been sent to the High Court for further trial by Magistrate Mustapha Briama Jah of Pademba Road Court No. 1 to stand trial for allegedly stabbing her husband Mustapha Bangura to death during a domestic dispute that ensued between them.
Bindi was arrested and brought before the court on Tuesday, May 13th 2025, after being charged for the offense of manslaughter, contrary to law.
The charge stemmed from an incident on April 2, 2025, at their shared residence, Williams Drive, off Aberdeen Road in Freetown.
Before committal, Magistrate Jah said the accused when charged to court went through prelims investigation and the prosecution called three witnesses to prove their case.
He said the witnesses were all cross-examined.
Magistrate Jah further stated that the testimonies of the witnesses corroborated.
He said that he has looked at the evidence before him and he was satisfied that the prosecution led sufficient evidence against the accused Bindi for her to stand trial at the high Court.
He further ordered that the senior crime officer would tender the necessary exhibits at the High Court proceedings.
Bindi informed the court that she wished to testify at the High Court on her defense and she would call witnesses.
He therefore sent the accused to the High Court for further trial without bail.
