Pius Mohamed Lumeh a civil engineering made another appearance before Magistrate Mustapha Braima Jah of Pademba Road Court No.1 in Freetown on two count charges to wit conspiracy to defraud contrary to law and obtaining money by false pretences contrary to section 32 (1) of the Larceny Act 1916.
According to the particulars of offence, on a date between August and September 2023 at Jui in the western area of Freetown with intent to defraud conspired with other persons unknown to defraud Paul Gbetuwa the sum of eight thousand eight hundred United States dollars ($8,800) by falsely pretending that he will facilitate an overseas travelling programme for his son Noah Gbetuwa to Australia for Job opportunities, knowing same to be false.
Count two further stated that on the same date and place the defendant with intent to defraud conspired together with other persons unknown and obtained the sum of eight thousand eight hundred United States dollars ($8,800) from Paul Gbetuwa by falsely pretending that he will facilitate an overseas travelling programme for his Son Noah Gbetuwa to Australia for Job opportunities knowing same to be false.
When the charges were read and explained to the defendant, no plea was taken.
The prosecutor Inspector Kadie M. Taylor sought for a short adjournment date to lead her witness.
Meanwhile, Magistrate Jah refused bail and sent the defendant to the male correctional facility in Freetown and adjourned the matter to 29th October 2025.
