Hon Shaka Musa Sama, the sitting Member of Parliament representing Constituency 104 in Pujehun District and Sierra Leone’s ECOWAS representative, has reportedly found himself in serious political and social turmoil following a controversial statement he allegedly made on social media.
Hon. Sama is reported to have declared that he would “slap or fight Dr. David Moinina Sengeh on the soil of Malen Chiefdom, Pujehun District, anytime they meet there.
This provocative statement is said to have emerged in the aftermath of the recently concluded stakeholder engagement meeting between the people of Malen Chiefdom and the Socfin Tropical Agricultural Company (SOCFIN).
While Chief Minister Dr. Sengeh has been working tirelessly to foster peace, stability, and dialogue between the community and SOCFIN, Hon. Sama reportedly appears to have taken the opposite route, fanning the flames of division and hostility.
Many commentators and observers argue that Hon. Sama has long been a central figure in perpetuating the prolonged conflict in Malen.
Instead of prioritizing peace and reconciliation, critics claim he thrives on creating disunity among his people, consolidating his influence, and strengthening his political hold on the chiefdom.
Voices across different quarters are now calling for decisive action.
To President Julius Maada Bio and Speaker of Parliament Rt. Hon. Segepoh Thomas, the message from the people is clear, enough is enough.
They insist that Hon. Sama must be held accountable for his words and his repeated acts of what many described as unruly behavior towards high-profile state authorities and the people of Malen Chiefdom.
“No one is above the law.” Hon Sama must face the full force of the law.
Other sects of people have stated that the Chief Minister is not working in the best interest of the landowners.
