Mohamed Kamara, a footballer made his final appearance before magistrate John Manso Fornah of Pademba Road Court No.2 on five count charges of collecting a prohibited drug without lawful authority, contrary to section 7 (b) of the National Drug Control Act 2008, Act No.10 of 2008, ranging from transporting, exposing and dealing in a prohibited drug without lawful authority, contrary to section 7 (c) National Drug Control Act 2008, Act No.10 of 2008 and possession of a prohibited drug without lawful authority contrary to section 8 (a) of the National Drug Control Act 2008, Act No.10 of 2008.
According to the police charge sheet, the accused on Wednesday, 19th March, 2025, at Lumley Police checkpoint, Freetown, in the western area of the Republic of Sierra Leone, collected a prohibited drug without lawful authority.
Count two revealed that the accused on the same date and place transported a prohibited drug without lawful authority.
Count three stated that the accused on the same date and place exposed a prohibited drug without lawful authority.
Count four further stated that the accused on the same date and place above, dealt in prohibited drug without lawful authority.
Count five furthered that the accused on the same date and place above, was found in possession of a prohibited drug without lawful authority.
When the charges were read and explained to the accused, no plea was taken.
The accused was not legally represented.
The state prosecutor informed the bench that he has closed his case for ruling.
Meanwhile, Magistrate Fornah stated that he was now satisfied that the prosecution adduced a prema facie evidence connecting the accused with the offences charged to warrant a committal of the matter to the high court for trial.
Therefore, he committed the accused to stand his trial in the high court.
