A Waterloo resident is bothered over rising cost on market goods which has been inflated by partly due to the increase in dollar exchange rate in the country.
“The cost for palm oil bottle is Le 10 while a cup of rice is Le 4 and above,” says a woman at York Road community in Waterloo.
Since the foreign exchange rate is still high in the country, prices of goods and services are sure to remain the same sold at exorbitant rate.
Currently, one hundred US dollar is bought at Le 2,400, which means the local currency is still being weakened by the dollar.
While this may affect all commodities and things in the country, Sierra Leonean average income earners and the poor who don’t have jobs mostly suffer the economic pinch.
Imported goods as well as locally produced foodstuffs are tagged by sellers at high prices, adding up the hardship on people daily.
