Arab Kamara, a resident of Wilberforce and neighbor to the complainant, has been arrested and charged with larceny, contrary to section 2 of the Larceny Act of 1916. He is accused of stealing a Benz ML vehicle and parts valued at NLe6,450, which were entrusted to him for repairs.
According to prosecution witness Samuel Ndoye, Kamara who offered to fix the vehicle, allegedly vanished with both the vehicle and its parts. Ndoye stated that he had trusted Kamara because of their neighborly relationship.
Testifying in court was Detective Police Constable (DPC) Michael Ansumana Conteh, badge number 14018, attached to the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) headquarters in Freetown. He confirmed recognizing the accused in the dock.
DPC Conteh recalled that on 15th March 2025, he and DPC 1394 were assigned to investigate a larceny case involving a vehicle parked at Wilberforce Road.
Upon arrival, they observed that several parts had been removed from the Benz ML. A statement was subsequently taken from the complainant.
He further testified that on 3rd May, a statement was taken from the accused, Arab Kamara. The caution statement was recorded in English, explained in Krio, and acknowledged by Kamara as accurate, although he refused to sign it.
The matter is currently before the court for further proceedings, the accused is remanded and the matter was adjourned to the 4th September 2025.
