The Wise Bird has noticed for some time now that too much tension has been mounting in the city in respect of ongoing rumours flying from left to right about the alleged coming of ECOMOG into the country.
If the rumour the Wise Bird is hearing is anything to go by, the bird is tempted to ask what the troop is coming to do in the country when the country is not at war.
In order to get the reality on the ground, the bird started prowling from East to West going on sounding the views of people in respect of the alleged coming of the ECOWAS troop into the country.
All those the bird met with, expressed dismay over the alleged coming of the troop as according to the ones interviewed they believe the country is not at war nor is it envisaging anything like a war situation in the country.
As the brave bird will not want to be found wanting on this talk, the bird on Saturday went to the famous Guard Street market to get more views from people and there the bird overheard some market-women talking about the alleged coming of the troop into the country.
The traders went further to say that, essential food stuffs have started going up, there are going good up because of the rumours that, ECOMOG (soldiers) will be coming on Sunday 15 September, 2024 in Sierra Leone.
The people are rushing in to buying foodstuffs because they don’t know what will happen on that day.
The Wise Bird is of the view that, at a time like this the opposition should have seen the writing on the wall, but up to now they still are fighting one other for position.
The latest information the bird got was that, the main opposition APC is allegedly behind the moves to arrange for the coming of the troop as they are still not happy with the outcome of the June 24, 2023 general elections.
These should have been the time for the Ministry of Information and Civic Education to go out by way of educating the public on the allegation/rumors around town in respect of the coming of ECOMOG to allay the fears of the people as to whether the rumors are true or false.
But from the look of things, the Ministry is not doing its work; the Strategic Unit of the Ministry is very dormant, and so the tension will continue to mount on a daily basis because nobody is talking to the people.
