As usual, the wise bird keeps receiving disturbing news from people in authority.
The first was said to have come from the outgone Chairman of the ruling Sierra Leone People’s Party (SLPP) Dr. Alex Prince Harding.
He was reported to have at one time said they will not hand over power to mad people, he was referring to the main opposition APC.
Now it his successor the newly elected Chairman, Jimmy Batilo Songa who is alleged to have supported his former boss’ statement by saying the army, police and marshals will be used to stop the main opposition All People’s Congress (APC) party from returning to power in 2028.
The bird viewed this statement from the number two man in the party as very much unfortunate, as will give credence to the opposition voices that the SLPP is not ready, willing and prepared to hand over power peacefully even if they lose the elections.
The Parrot, in order to get more of this topical issue, flew to the office of the main opposition APC and spoke to one senior member of the party.
He described the statement as reckless, noting that it’s a calculated ploy not only to steal the coming elections process, but will affect the entire democratic process in the country.
He went further to say that they as a party condemned the statement in its entirety to mobilize the military and police for political purposes. He pointed out that the country’s peace and stability is not guaranteed.
The senior member went further to state such negative statement have the propensity to undermine the neutrality and mandate of the security apparatus.
The bird having got what he needed what he wanted from the member of the opposition, he went out to get more from the general public.
The first port of call was to the office of the ruling SLPP party where he was greeted with serious condemnations by some members.
Meanwhile, some of them also described such a statement as unfortunate to have come especially from the Chairman as a senior figure and leader of a reputable party like the SLPP from whom much is expected.
But for him to have made such a statement, will appear he is just the complete replica of his predecessor, the critical members said.
Talking to some ordinary members, they too opposed to what the chairman said to call on the army, police and marshals to protect their party during elections for obvious reasons. “It is a serious concern for all,” they cried out in condemnation.
They stressed therefore that if the government is not a party or in support of that statement, must come out publicly to condemn it to clear its name.
The bird is waiting to see whether the government will do so.
