The total reactions by both the International World and the people of Sierra Leone to reject the outcome of the June, 24 2023 general elections arw a cause for concern.
Our only problem has been the failure of certain set of people to see and accept the reality on the ground.
The slow pace or the seemingly unconcerned attitude of our moral guarantors especially those closer to us the ECOWAS is sending a very bad signal that will make one to be afraid that all might not end well in favour of ever having a lasting peace and stability in the country.
If the effort of the International body to bring peace fails, the country will continue to be as it is at the moment.
We understand that, ECOMOG contingent are on their way into the country, but the question is to come to do what? Is the country at war or is it envisaging an attack from outside?
One would have thought that, at a time like this the question to ask about the 2023 general elections should be is it not not now a thing of the past since it almost one year now nothing is happening ?
The coming, I think, of ECOMOG is another way of making the people to feel unsafe in the country; business will come to a standstill, the movement of people may be restricted.
What bothers me most is that, supposed ECOMOG coming is to help bring peace but that turned into another thing else, so what will happen next?
This question bothers me as every day and night I go to sleep I think of this issue. It is one of the many questions we as Sierra Leoneans should be asking about what will happen if ECOMOG failed go bring peace to the country.
Now, the present political situation in the country is something we have to sit down and give very serious consideration to.
To me, and all well-meaning and peaceful citizens need more prayers than jumping into the streets of Freetown and other places causing noise in the name of calling for democracy.
I am afraid, to my country men and women, this country may face the worst moment in its history if we as citizens fail to put our house in order by way of thinking alike.
ECOMOG are a separate force. If we want peace we as people must be united as a people of a country.
This is more the reason it is incumbent on every peace loving Sierra Leonean to always be hopeful for the best not even for the better but for the best.
For sustainable peace to reign in the country, we all have to sing one song of the NATIONAL Pledge.
What again baffles me now is the way the International Community is treating the recommendations of the tripartite committee.
At a time like this, for me, I see, every Sierra Leonean should rather think about development than about having a election now.
