Public transports in Sierra Leone are volatile because the apprentices often don’t treat passengers decently.
Many a times people would complain a lot about the bad attitude of some apprentices towards them.
But even the drivers themselves would not show any action against the bad apprentices who behave badly towards the passengers.
Between Waterloo and Freetown, there have been series of complaints been made by people against our poda-poda conductors otherwise known as apprentices.
The people would say passengers don’t usually talk to them politely. Neither do they put on decent dress code.
Some dress up sheepishly, causing great discomfort for passengers. This behavior is something that most people have not been okay with but people often ignore theses issues because they don’t simply have choice as the poda-poda drivers never take any action against apprentices over the bad conduct of them.
These apprentices on the poda-poda vehicles would often insult people sometimes unnecessary over some petty matters such as giving out change to passengers or for simply asking them not to put more people in a vehicle for which they would react angrily.
To discourage the bad attitude of apprentices, traffic police officers and drivers union men should be giving offences to drivers for any insult caused by an apprentice to a passenger.
